St Thomas’ Church Philadelphia has both paid and volunteer leaders. The paid staff team oversee the central running of the church and ministries and work closely with a significant team of volunteer leaders.
Most people’s first point of contact with our church might be through a community (we call them missional communities) which are led by a large number of volunteers. You can see many of these group leaders by clicking here.
Nick and Marjorie Allan
The Allans jointly lead St Thomas’ Philadelphia. They set vision and head the leadership team. Both are passionate about being and producing radical disciples of Jesus. Their heart is to see lost people found by their heavenly father and loved into life in all its fullness. They love to preach and mentor others and always personally to aim to live as Jesus did. Previously they led the King’s Centre Church in Sheffield, before which Nick worked in Marketing and Marjorie was a linguist. Nick loves football, reading, hill walking and good coffee. Marjorie loves keeping fit, reading and chatting to friends. They have 3 children under 7 which keeps them busy!
John Lovell
John Lovell has been a member of the strategic leadership team of the church for over 30 years, and has a commercial marketing background. As executive team leader his primary responsibility is to ensure that the organisational structures and resources of the church support and facilitate its missional focus, aims and objectives. John and his wife Liz are Guardians and founder members of The Order of Mission. Their home is often used as a place of retreat.

Church Wardens
Accountability is a high value for us so our paid leaders work in close conjunction with our church wardens who are mature Christians drawn from within the body that help shape vision and direction and hold our staff team accountable.
