St Thomas’ Philadelphia is a large church with over 1000 people who connect in some way every week. We have many different groups, communities and ministries which take place all across the city. They are as varied as the people of Sheffield themselves—including communities for students, young adults, creative types, the marginalised, business communities, families, the elderly and more. These are based across the city on urban estates, in the suburbs and in the city centre.
This page give you links to some resources available to newcomers to our church, we'd like you to feel at home and come with us on our journey to call our city back to God. Join a Community
In St Thomas' Church Philadelphia, we believe real community is an essential building block of the church. Communities are also a place where together we can bless and serve our city. They are places where we can be known, supported and challenged to go deeper in our relationship with each other and to grow as disciples of Jesus.

Welcome Lunches
These take place several times a year after the morning gathering. These provide the opportunity for newcomers to meet some of the Senior Team & Community Leaders, learn a bit more about St Thomas' Philadelphia, our core values and ministries.

The Alpha Course
Welcome Evenings
The Philadephia Welcome Evenings are a great change to come and hear about Missional Communities and Lifeshapes in an informal gathering.
Run over two weeks you will have the opportunity to hear about the background of Missional Communities, what communities are available and also meet some of our community leaders and hear more about what goes on in their groups.
We will also cover the basics of the first 5 Lifeshapes (Circle, Square, Semi Circle, Triangle & Pentagon) and how people personally use them in their everyday life.
