Families - Courses
At St Thomas’ we view family as vitally important. Being a parent is a wonderful privilege but it is also an enormous responsibility. Raising children is probably one of the hardest things you’ll ever have to do and it doesn’t come with an instruction manual!
We therefore run several parenting evenings here at Philadelphia Campus and in people’s homes designed to help you understand and develop your parenting skills. They are aimed at the different stages and age groups, from babies to teenagers. The evenings are run by parents who have already experienced that stage which means their wisdom and advice can be passed on.
The courses’ format is slightly different too - they are one-off evenings so you are not tied into several weeks of commitment. And we don’t run a series of teaching sessions but rather concentrate on a discussion format. This provides the opportunity for parents to share experiences and offer support on how to deal with some of the challenges any age can bring. We also like to celebrate the good things about parenting too – we need to remember and encourage one another about how rewarding it can be.
