Activate is a cluster which has stepped out into the world. The objective is not to get people into "church" but to get "church" which is us, mixing with people in whatever they enjoy doing.
Activate walking goes hill walking with the total objective of enjoying ourselves and inviting not yet Christians to come and enjoy themselves with us. Activate BFG (book and film group) does what it says on the can. We meet together to discuss non-christian books which we have been reading and we go to the cinema, followed by the bar, where we discuss the film.
We are currently forming a new group doing extreme sports such as kayaking, potholing, waterfall climbing. Two of the core team who enjoy coffee bars and chatting are thinking about inviting other girls they know to join them. We are just working towards starting a monthly "all comers" pub meet. If you are interested in doing what you do, with other people, think about joining Activate.
How will that grow the church? It may not. But if God wants it to grow His Kingdom, He's big enough to use what we do to His advantage. and we can enjoy doing what we do.
